Guests EP2

Erasmus student joins CRC 1316 project

Between March 25th and July 19th, 2019 the Erasmus student Roel Michiels visits the research group EP2 of Prof. von Keudell at Ruhr University Bochum. He joins project A3 from the CRC 1316 "Excitation transfer between molecules in transient atmospheric pressure plasmas and its impact on plasma chemistry".

Roel Michiels is associated with the group of Annemie Bogaerts from the Department of Chemistry at the University of Antwerp. He finished his Bachelor thesis last year and prepares now for his Master degree. The topic of his Master thesis is micro kinteic modelling of plasma catalysis. The modelling is done via Density functional theory (DFT) and Molecular Dynamics (MD).

Together with Theresa Urbanietz, Christoph Stewig, and Steffen Schüttler he tries to gain experience in experimental work in Bochum. His work here focuses on the measurement as well as on the analysis of FTIR spectra gained in the project.

GUESTS AT EP2

Two students visits EP2 within the JSPS Core-to-Core Program

After their participation in the International School on Low-Temperature Plasma Physics, the PhD students Fatima Jenina Arellano and Abdulrahman H. Basher visited the research group of Prof. von Keudell. Both are working on DFT simulations in the group of Prof. Hamaguchi from Osaka university, Japan. Within the framework of the JSPS Core-to-Core program, they used the chance to visit the EP2 group.

Guest at Experimental Physics II

Sylvain Iséni stays two weeks for electric field measurements on micro cavity plasma arrays

Dr. Sylvain Iséni stayed from October 21st until October 31st, 2019, in the group of Prof. Achim von Keudell. His visit is part of the collaboration with his home institute, GREMI, espacially, Prof. Remi Dussart. Particularly, the focus of the recent visit is are eletric field measurements by optical emission spectroscopy in the project A6 (Dr. Volker Schulz-von der Gathen, Sebastian Dzikowski) of the CRC1316. In the project micro cavity arrays are investigated.

Furthermore, Dr. Iséni used the chance to participate in the online seminar and had a talk with the title "Temperate micro-plasmas for environmental purposes: sources, properties, cross-diagnostics & challenges".

Lab visit

Dr. habil. Sedina Tsikata visits plasma labs in Bochum

Within the frame of the physics collquium at Ruhr University in Bochum, Dr. habil. Sedina Tsikata from CNRS Orléans, France was invited to present her reserach topic. Her presentation had the title "With plasmas into space - physics of Hall thrusters". The visit was also used to discuss recent research topics with the groups of Prof. A. von Keudell and Prof. U. Czarnetzki.

26.04.2017 - Roeland Schelfhout visits research group applied plasma physics

Being part of the Cod-to-Doc program in the SFB-TR 87, Vincent Layes from the research group applied plasma physics visited the research group of Prof. Depla from the Ghent University in September 2015. Now the PhD student from Ghent University, Roeland Schelfhout, came to work together with Vincent Layes at the RUB from June 19th, until June 30th, 2017. He had a seminar talk about "The reactive sputtering process from a target point of view" on June 29th, 2017.

The scientific goal of both PhD canditates for this time is "Thorough XPS investigation of the poisoning evolution along the racetrack for an aluminum target, sputtered in an argon/oxygen atmosphere in both standard DC sputtering as well as in HiPIMS."
