M.Sc. Plasma technology
Plasma technology offers innovative solutions for many areas of the natural sciences, technology and medicine. Plasmas are ionized and therefore particularly high-energy and active gases, often referred to as the "fourth state of matter". Their special properties make them a universal tool, such as for generating light and radiation, manufacturing computer chips, modifying and coating surfaces and activating chemical processes.
The subjects of the major in plasma technology include:
- Plasma Processes and Plasma Diagnostics
- Disinfection of packaging materials and medical implants
- Environmentally friendly and energy-efficient gas discharge lamps
- Modelling and simulation of plasmas
"Plasma technology" is one of eight possible majors in the Master's programme in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology at the Ruhr-Universität Bochum. After a standard period of study of four semesters, students obtain a Master of Science (M. Sc. ) degree.
